Why the checklist matters
Airbnb reviews are won and lost in the first five minutes after check-in. Guests notice smell first, then bathroom, then linen — in that order. Our checklist is built around that order.
Kitchen (12 points)
Worktops sanitised, hob and splashback degreased, sink descaled, all appliances wiped inside and out, microwave interior, kettle descaled, dishwasher run empty, bin emptied and relined, tea towels replaced, fridge wiped and old food removed, cupboard doors wiped, floors mopped.
Bathrooms (10 points per bathroom)
Toilet inside and out, shower screen descaled, tiles cleaned, taps polished, mirror streak-free, floor mopped, fresh towels folded hotel-style, toiletries restocked, hair removed from all surfaces, extractor fan wiped.
Bedrooms (8 points per room)
Fresh linen and duvet cover on every bed (never re-used, ever), pillows plumped and evenly placed, under-bed checked for guest items, wardrobes and drawers checked, surfaces dusted, floors vacuumed then mopped if hard, curtains and blinds straightened, windows spot-cleaned.
Living areas (7 points)
Sofa cushions plumped, throws folded, remote controls sanitised, coffee table wiped, TV screen dusted, floor thoroughly cleaned, general 'reset to photo' pass so the property matches the listing.
The final 5 — what separates 4 stars from 5
Full house sniff test. Welcome pack restocked (coffee, tea, milk sachets). Wi-Fi card visible on the counter. Heating or AC set to a sensible temperature. Timestamped photo report sent to the host.
